Luxitune Finetuners- Bling for your instrument!

“Add some SPARKLE to your sound.”

If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have noticed that Luxitune recently sent me a beautiful Mother-of-Pearl fine tuner for my violin.  It is SO beautiful and well made that I decided I needed to dedicate a blog post to my obsession with this company and their products.

My previous fine tuner was a basic ugly tuner that came with my tailpiece.  I never really gave much thought to it’s appearance until I saw photos of the fine tuner on the violin of Maxine Kwok-Adams of the London Smyphony Orchestra.  Maxine is known for her unique style and social media presence in the music and fashion world, and I highly recommend following her on Twitter and Instagram, and you can visit her webpage here.  She has a beautiful Swarovski Crystal tuner similar to this one, and when I saw it I just KNEW I needed an upgrade for my instrument.

The Mother-of-Pearl flower on my tailpiece is very unique, and the tailpiece itself is not the best quality.  However, it was a gift from my mother when I was very young and it is sentimental, plus it does not negatively impact the sound of my violin.  Luxitune recently designed these Abalone and Mother-of-Pearl fine tuners, and was super excited when I saw that it matched the flower on my tailpiece.  I was even more excited when I received it!

First, the Luxitune made a great impression right away because packaging is beautiful (it comes in a velvet jewelry bag!).  It was easy to install….just like any other fine tuner. The quality of the product is what really sold me on Luxitune as a company.  I’ve already told you that I think it is beautiful, but it is also well made and it is easy to turn while tuning.  The best part?  Several of my closest colleagues noticed the new tuner, but not everyone….which was important to me because I didn’t want something so flashy that it was distracting in performances.  My violin got a beautiful upgrade, but not at the expense of professionalism.  Honestly, I think I could use the Pavé Swarovski Crystal tuner and still keep that professional appearance.

I’m a sucker for a great (and beautiful) violin accessory, so now I want another Luxitune fine tuner so I can change the tuner/appearance with my mood or performance piece/setting.  I’m currently coveting this one!

Do you have a certain violin accessory that you’re obsessed with?  Let me know in the comments below!

I adore Maxine Kwok-Adams violin! Her style is beautiful and blingy and inspired me to bling out my own violin. I’ve recently acquired a custom crystal dampit and matching mute. A Luxitune fine tuner is next on my must have list.
